Nov., 2016: Maple Knit-Wit Club fonds
The Maple Knit-Wit Club was an organization of women from the Village of Maple, Vaughan Township, established in August 1942 for the purpose of assisting the Allied war effort during World War II by providing knitted goods to Maple residents serving in the Canadian military. The group consisted of 7 members at the time of its formation and rose to 15 members by June 1944. The Club disbanded in late 1945. Spanning the years 1942-1945 the Maple Knit-Wit Club fonds consists of a single volume of typed minutes, fincancial statements, lists of Maple residents serving in Canada and overseas, snapshots of members of the Club, newspaper clippings that include published letters of thanks from Maple servicemen, a booklet containing knitting instructions for children's wear, and miscellaneous event programs.
