Apr., 2016: Edgeley Women's Institute fonds
The Edgeley Women’s Institute was established in 1913, as a local branch of the Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario (FWIO), created to preserve and capture local community histories and promote female endeavours. Organized as a means for women to gather, converse, and work together, the Edgeley branch fostered a sense of community, while working towards the growth and empowerment of all women. Like many branches of the FWIO, the Edgeley branch compiled Tweedsmuir Village Histories in order to record the branch and local community histories. The Edgeley Women’s Institute fonds spans the years 1861-1993 and consists of minute books, financial statements, pamphlets, photographs and textual historic accounts.
