Nov., 2018: Mathewson Bond, 1870
This 1870 hand-written bond transferred ownership of Mathewson family lands from father to son. The land, located on the eastern 50 acres of lot 11, concession 3 (north of Langstaff, between Staffern Drive and Dufferin Street, and south of Confederation Parkway), transferred from Joseph to John, had been in the Mathewson family since the early 1830s. Dated November 24th, 1870, the three-page document outlines the terms of the sale. Prior to being donated to the archives in 2017, the bond itself was discovered in a King Township attic in 2016, having been squirrelled away for safekeeping by previous home owners.
