Farmers with haywagon, ca. 1930s
Agriculture formed a substantial part of life in early Vaughan. By 1840, horsepower began to replace much of the work that had previously been done by hand. Horse-drawn farm equipment enabled agriculture to grow into an industry as farmers could increase their production. The above photograph shows farmers bringing in hay from the fields, ca. 1930s.
