Gas Engines, 1935

The beginning of the 20th century brought the rise of gasoline engines and changes to agricultural practices. Horses were seldom used and machinery began to be pulled by tractors; later, the combine did the threshing in the fields. This photograph taken in November 1935 shows a threshing machine pulled by a tractor with Mary Wood in the driver’s seat.
