Hotels, [n.d.]

During the mid-1800s, Woodbridge had at least six established hotels in operation; this included the Inkerman Hotel (pictured above). Built in 1878, it contained fifteen bedrooms and was well-known for the banquets and suppers that were held in its large dining rooms with long tables that seated 130 each. The hotel was especially crowded on Woodbridge Fair Day, when often as many as 500 people were served meals. In 1916 all of the hotels had their licenses removed as a war measure; upon reinstating the licenses in 1923 only the Woodbridge Hotel reopened. The building still stands on Woodbridge Ave.
