Chapman Family
Nathan Jr. Chapman received the Crown grant for Lot 28, Concession 1 (near present day Yonge Street and Centre Street) at sixteen years of age, after his father’s death. He was required to clear 18 feet of Yonge Street and build a house. The Chapman family farm was the last of the local Crown grants to pass from family ownership in 1950. Pictured above are the children of Ida & Tot Chapman: Phyllada, John, Alfreda and Ambrose.
