McDonald Family

John McDonald and his wife, Sarah MacInnes, emigrated from Scotland, settling on the south half of Lot 19, Concession 3 (near present day Major Mackenzie Drive and Keele Street) around 1805. The family continued farming and expanded their holdings over the course of the 1800s, becoming associated with Maple and Vellore. They owned shops, became involved in the running of Vaughan Township and taught in various schools. Members of the McDonald family still live in Vaughan today and a selection of records from the John McDonald Collection are pictured above.
