McGillivray Family
In 1830, Neil emigrated from the Isle of Mull. He bought two hundred acres of land in King Township without seeing it. Later, he was unhappy with the purchase, so he sold it for a black cow. He then bought Lot 20, Concession 9 near Kleinburg (present day Major Mackenzie Drive and Highway 27) and built a house on the property for $1000 in 1865. He married Flora Beaton and the pair had ten children. Their descendants, two of which are pictured above, Maggie May, and Jennie, continued to farm the homestead until the 1960s, when it was sold to Timothy O’Connor.
