McQuarrie Family
Lachlan McQuarrie brought his family to Maple in 1829 from New York State. He and his wife died soon after, but the young family of three girls and five boys managed to support themselves, entering politics and continuing to farm the homestead on Lot 18, Concession 3 (present day southeast of Major Mackenzie Drive and Keele Street). Their descendants, such as Isaac McQuarrie (above), farmed in Vaughan until the 1950s.
