"Things are going to get loud." - Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky, 1812 Overture Composer, used 16 cannon shots as "percussion instruments"
Ford Amphitheater, where Tchaikovsky's ~15 minute-long "1812 Overture" (1880) was played during the fireworks display, Colorado Springs, CO, 4 July 2025.
NOTE: This overture was not about the War of 1812 between the US and Britain. Rather, it was to commemorate Russia's successful defense against Napoleon's invasion. In the case of this July 4th performance, timpanis/kettledrums were used instead of cannons! (Full Overture can be found and heard on YouTube.)
