Wind-scoured winter uplands / Before the turbines arrived 1
35 wind-harvesting electricity-producing 450ft high turbines are at the planning application stage, and if passed by the renewables-crazy SNP will be sited on the high hills top right picture, destroying these views forever. The landowner, the Duke of Buccleuch, would be in line to receive over £50,000 per week per turbine from the power supplier with no cost commitments whatsoever, whether construction or maintenance-related.
Nice money-spinning little enterprise if you're privileged enough to get it, and as long as the millions of UK electricity consumers don't mind the big hike on their bills to pay for it all.
After all, they're helping to save the planet - yes?
