AGNI
Agni è il più importante degli Dei terrestri, secondo per importanza fra gli Dei dell'antica mitologia vedica solo ad Indra. I Veda riconoscono il fuoco ovunque nell’universo ed Agni è la luce, il Sole, il fuoco terrestre, il fulmine (fuoco delle acque) e prende altre molteplici forme nascoste e manifeste. È conosciuto nel Rig Veda con l’epiteto di Vaishvanara: “colui che appartiene a tutti gli uomini”. Agni è il Dio mediatore per antonomasia, colui che trasforma i doni dell’uomo, attraverso il sacrificio, in offerta agli Dei.

The Vedas recognize fire everywhere in the universe and Agni is light, the Sun, earthly fire, lightning (fire of the waters) and takes many other hidden and manifest forms. He is known in the Rig Veda with the epithet of Vaishvanara: "he who belongs to all men". Agni is the mediator God par excellence, the one who transforms man's gifts, through sacrifice, into an offering to the Gods.
