I motivi della longevità in Sardegna sono molteplici, soprattutto comportamentali e socio-culturali piuttosto che genetici. Sicuramente, il ruolo più importante ce l’ha l’ambiente in cui s’inserisce Villagrande Strisaili: a 20 km dalla costa e a 700 metri sul livello del mare, un luogo in cui, quindi, l’aria di mare si unisce al clima della montagna. D’importantissima rilevanza è anche lo stile di vita di cui una caratteristica importante è la pastorizia transumante. Un lavoro caratterizzato da fatica fisica (e, quindi, movimento) e dallo stretto contatto con la natura.
