On a walk along the towpath of the Lancaster canal I noticed this beautifully marked butterfly, which kindly kept still for long enough for me to take this photograph.
Even in the heart of a city, amongst the vestiges of the industrial revolution, wildlife will thrive if habitats are available to them.
