2016 Institute for LGBT Studies Fall Symposium
The Institute for LGBT Studies began the new Fall Symposium Series in 2016 with Dr. Luz Calvo of UC Santa Cruz to share their research and co-authored text Decolonize Your Diet with the UA and Tucson Community. The Symposium, "Decolonize Your Diet: Recipes to Sustain Revolutionary Love," included several public lectures, a student led talking circle, and community cooking demonstrations with Tucson High School and the El Rio Community Health Center. In each event, attendees discussed colonial histories, the american diet, and chican@ heritage through remembering, reclaiming, and sustaining a love for traditional knowledge.
