Mumlava wild river near Harrachov
The Krkonoše River Mumlava is beautiful along its entire course. However, near the town of Harrachov, it creates the most remarkable and predatory section with many cascades and waterfalls, the most famous of which is the MUMLAVA WATERFALL.
Mumlava springs in a triangular area on Mumlavská meadow between the peaks Okolík, Kotel and Lysá hora. The length of the stream is 12.2 km.
After leaving the plateau, the river flows through a canyon-like valley called Mumlavský důl. At a place called Krakonoš's Breakfast, Malá Mumlava is added to Velká Mumlava, and the Smrková strouha and Vosecká strouha streams are added to Mumlava a little lower.
Mumlava flows from the left into the Jizera near the Na Mýtě pod Kořenovem hotel. This is trout water. The section from Harrachov to the estuary is used by experts for boating tourism. The river flows through the town of HARRACHOV.
In the valley stream, it forms the border between the Giant Mountains and the Jizera Mountains. In the lower part of Mumlavský důl there is also the famous Mumlavský waterfall, 10 m high, across the entire riverbed
