Namibia, Köcherbaumwald - Quiver tree forest
The "Quiver Tree Forest" is not far from Keetmanshoop in southern Namibia. Here you will find a unique collection of quiver trees that are around 200-300 years old and up to 9m high, also known as Kokerbooms. It's not actually a tree at all, it's a species of aloe. They owe their name to the Bushmen, who used them to carve quivers for their arrows.
Der "Köcherbaumwald" liegt unweit von Keetmanshoop im Süden Namibias, hier findert man eine einzigartige Ansammlung von ca. 200-300 Jahre alten bis zu 9m hohen Köcherbäumen, auch Kokerbooms genannt. Es sind eigentlich gar keine Bäume, es ist eine Aloen-Art. Ihren Namen verdanken sie den Buschmännern, die hieraus die Köcher für ihre Pfeile schnitzten.
