Rotation
After intercepting the first supercell at Prüm we decided to move further south where new 'French' thunderstorms moved towards the Eifel. Here the air was warmer and more unstable, but also drier.
Near Bitburg we had a good view of a strong rotating updraft of a small supercell that can be seen in the photo. The storm dumped a good amount of rain from the anvil and FFD (Foward Flank Downdraft) on us. However, the drier air meant that this storm did not really work anymore. A phenomenon that I have also experienced a number of times in the USA.
Nonetheless the structure and rotation in this storm were awesome to watch......
