Special Positive Lightning

This autumn thunderstorm produced a rather special positive lightning discharge.

Normally positive lightning comes out from the upper part of the storm.

In this case, the horizontal part of the lightning is just above where the melting level of snow is. I don't know the exact mechanism, but somehow charge separation near this melting level caused this powerful positive stroke.
