Doctor Who: Mastermind
With the Doctor's execution looming, Kamala gets help from an unlikely source.
"You...you dick, you're supposed to be dead!"
The Master and Kamala have managed to locate the Doctor, and have been able to free her using the Master's Laser screwdriver. Naturally the Doctor is shocked that her oldest frenemy has returned from the grave, and more shocked that he's joined by Kamala, who remarks he looks well for a dead man
"Well, me and death have never been good bedfellows"
The Master explains that despite thinking he was dead himself, he awoke after the Doctor had left him, made it to his Tardis, took off, and crashed on the Cyber-settlement. His Tardis was damaged and he was unable to leave, so he laid low while he made repairs, his Tardis disguised as a storage closet. Now the Doctor is here, he asks if he can hitch a ride.
"They have anti-Tardis weaponry Doctor! You two free the Tardis, I'll keep them busy"
And with a flourish, the Master was out of the Tardis doors. There was no blaster fire, nor any Cybermen in fact. Proton accelerator in hand, The Master set off at a leisurely pace back to the out of place storage closet. His plan had worked, and he would finally be able to escape this desolate place.
"A few little adjustments and...Bingo!"
The Master presses buttons on what appears to be a microwave, and with a ding, the room begins to shake, an eerie groan emanating from the walls. His Tardis in motion, he makes his escape.
"Doctor, oh Doctor"
The Master grabs the microphone from its cradle, and reveals to the Doctor that he orchestrated the whole thing. The trial, the sentence, their grand escape, everything, all to capture the Doctor's Tardis. A lot of work for just one component, but the look on the Doctor's face when she saw him was priceless.
"I knew he hadn't changed, how could I be so naive?"
The Doctor grips the console, clearly frustrated. Sure she's able to to cobble together a proton accelerator so she and Kamala can escape, but she hates how the Master was able to manipulate her again. Did he ever change? Were they ever really on the same side?
