Justice league: Overlords - Ch 3 (read desc)
The other league
The group stands in an underground room. Pre-wartime by the looks of it. They have been summoned from around the country. Some know why they're here, others do not. But they have one goal, one thing that unites them. The thing that binds them together, makes them strong. They all want Superman dead. Well, most of them. Some just want to live their lives in peace, without fear of being hunted down and imprisoned.
"Does he always take this long?" asks the Amazon General. She is Artemis, a refugee from the island once described as 'Paradise'. "He likes to make a dramatic entrance" the man next to her responds. Dressed in green, shaggy beard and unkept hair, Green arrow has seen better days. A sound interrupts them. Footsteps, drawing ever closer. He's here. The man who united these people here. The dark knight of Gotham. Batman.
He steps out of the shadows, and into the light. He inspects his audience. 'Good' he thinks 'everyone's here' He clears his throat, ready to explain why they're all gathered here. "I appreciate you all coming here tonight" The group assembled before him grows quiet. "We all have our reasons for being here. We all have the same goal."
The woman at the computer looks to the Batman. He nods. She flicks a switch, and a projector, hidden somewhere behind the wall, hums into action.
"Thanks Liz. This, is the reason I've gathered you all here today." The team look at the projection on the wall. A flickering ball, the Earth and another object. A satellite.
One of the Kryptonians speaks. The general. "What is that..." General Zod asks. A voice, low and smooth, answers him. "That, ladies and gentlemen, is a low orbit satellite. Or at least, a simulation of one" The projection starts to move. The satellite fires a beam of light at the Earth. The team gasp and murmur their concerns. The woman in black, Huntress, speaks. "Is this...real. Has he really built this satellite."
The projection loops. "Not yet" The Batman answers. "This is Supermans deterrent. We've all heard about Atlantis, how Aquaman refuses to concede Supermans rule. This is his solution. If we don't stop him, he will use this satellite to wipe out Atlantis, and any other city or civilisation that stands against him. This, is his endgame."
Lucius speaks "We need to act fast if we're going to stand a chance of stopping this thing. Our informant tells us it's already being built. Once it's fully operational, we've lost. That's it, gameover."
"This may be our last stand. We have to remove Superman, and his league from the equation. Remove Superman, and the whole structure will crumble." Batman raises his fist, shaking it with every word "We will take back Earth!"
The team nod in agreement. Murmurs of approval are exchanged. They are united. They know that their mission may lead to their demise. But they are prepared to take that risk. They will fight to their dying breath. For truth, and justice.
