Member of the Monitor expedition dive team descend to the wreck site of the USS Monitor 240 feet below the ocean surface. The divers are working from the Derrick Barge WOTAN, the main support vessel for Phase II of the Monitor 2001 expedition, the sixth NOAA-Navy expedition to preserve the historic vessel. The ship went down off the coast of Cape Hatteras, NC, in 1862 during a severe storm.
