Anolis carolinensis
This picture shows a Carolina Anole hanging out on my front porch. I was lucky enough to capture a picture of him puffing out his chest before he ran away from me. This little guy is a perfect example of intraspecific competition. He puffs his vibrant colored chest to ward off other Anoles who may try to steal his territory. He also uses it to attract attention from other female lizards, as the lizard who puts on the most impressive display often wins the right to reproduce. As long as he continues to eat cockroaches and other disliked bugs, he is more than welcome to stroll along my front porch all he pleases!
