My old homemade

My old homemade weather vane with a propeller. 45 years in the open air! It is even impossible to imagine how many turns it made during this time.

Recently I had to repair it for the first time. New neighbors from Armenia have appeared. Their children have grown up and now they have a new fun - shooting at a target with an air rifle. The weather vane was in the line of fire. First, the children shot off one blade from the propeller, then the second. But the children certainly did not admit it. I had to remove the weather vane from the line of fire, repair it and at the same time do some profilactic work.

Four bearings in an oil bath. Two vertical and two horizontal on a spring suspension. 45 years in the open air and everything is as new and the oil has not thickened. All materials are made in the USSR (not in China). Many years ago, the Tupolev design bureau dismantled (demolition) an old analog computer that in real time simulated the flight of first Soviet TU-104 passenger jet.

My older sister was working there at that time. She brought me some unnecessary parts as toys. She didn't even know what they could be used for. The computer occupied an entire building and it was just a pity for my sister to watch how bulldozers crush and send to the landfill mountains of highly precision parts made of the best materials: miniature electric motors, switches, etc.
