The Everett Railroad Company

by Tpavlic

Originally chartered in 1954 to take over 4 miles of ex-Huntingdon & Broad Top Mountain (the *other* Broad Top, which was standard gauge rather than the narrow gauge of the more famous East Broad Top) from Mt. Dallas near Everett, PA to Bedford, PA. Today the company has moved entirely to Blair County and serves Hollidaysburg, Roaring Spring, Martinsburg. Claysburg, and Spourl. The company recently dipped its toes into the tourist excursion business--on select weekends, the line operates its 1920-built (1923 sold) ALCo 2-6-0 #11 (ex-Bath & Hammondsport) and has ownership of--and intentions to rebuild--the last H&BT engine, 2-8-0 #38, which the line had considered purchasing in 1954 but opted for a GE centercab.
