The East Broad Top Railroad is a legendary place. Some believe its end has passed. To others, it's merely sleeping. To 3-bay high-sided hopper #970, it doesn't matter--eventually, nature reclaims all, and after 6 decades of sitting in the same spot, someday never comes to this vine-covered, rusted out veteran of the Broad Top coal field.
For any who ask, the cost to reopen the 5-mile tourist operation is quite high--I heard $2M, including MOW and at least one locomotive (14 has a little flue time left, but it is rapidly expiring). That's in addition to the asking price for the railroad itself. If I ever hit the lottery...
