The Paradox of Indian Railways.

"And you could have it all,

My empire of dirt"

-Nine Inch Nails

This shutterart depicts the paradoxical situation that is going on in IR. Old tech looking upon their newer counterparts and waiting for their imminent doom. Electrified lines under the clutches of OHE masts and wires and a lone unelectrified line gazing upon the open sky. This paradox in IR has gained even more momentum nowadays.

Under this paradox, an old WDM-2 from the DLS, Mughalsarai (MGS/ECR) with no identification marks on its SHF and in poorly painted colours of its home shed, which indeed adds to its "old school" looks, stands desolate on a sole unelectrified branch line amidst the catenary jungle.

Thinking of all its heyday and the imminent condemnation it will face very soon, it gazes with despair upon the electrified lines and a WAG-7 and and a WAP-4 from unknown ELSs, its newer counterparts, who'll eventually have its "Empire of dirt". In the meanwhile, the abandoned wheelsets nearby, the British-era overbridge and the grey April sky and more to its background of disparity.
