How do we attain Self-Realization/Atma Gnan? Is it only through positive intent? Or do we need a teacher?

Pujya Deepakbhai explains in this video, that only if we have infinite merit karma, we get a chance to see a Self-Realised Soul (that of a Spiritual Master) and we can also get Atma Gnan. It cannot be forced upon someone, the desire has to come from within.
