Learn how brands can use Instagram Stories

Its no secret that brand have discovered Instagram for quiet a while to announce and promote their products, new arrivals and company. Now more and more brands are getting on the Instagram Story train because it offers many options for them.

 

1. Behind-the-scenes content

Instagram itself is the place to show your brand new product all in fine and high end polished quality, only the best pictures make it on the brands IG page. Story now offers a way to show the behind the scenes process. How a picture is taking maybe from the shooting itself a live feed or something similar in order to let the clients participate even more.

How cool would it be to see a new sports outfit as a picture and then be able to get inside pictures and videos from the actual shooting. This option is possible and can be used in every area and every industry from small to bis companies from tec to food no matter what there are no limits. A restaurant for example could show a brand new dish in Instagram and in Stories the entire process of preparing from the kitchen. A fitness influencer could post pictures of a new dish and in Stories show how he is doing the shopping for it for example on a local market.

 

2. How to overcome the algorithm

Just like its big brother Facebook, Instagram implemented an algorithm to show its customers preferred content in the feed, things they might be especially interested in.

For Stories Instagram has not yet decided if the content is shown in chronological order or depending on ones interest. One thing is sure Stories can be a valuable addition for a brands social strategy and with some experimentation can lead to increased customer loyalty, more customers and finally more sales.

 

3. Takeovers

Takeovers or collaboration are very common of Snapchat meaning that one brand lends its account to another in order to share content for a set period of time. This would also a very possible and interesting option on Instagram Stories for brand to collaborate with each other and or influencers.

 

4. More 1:1 communication

One of the biggest attractions of social media since its beginning is the chance to theoretically (not always possible due to the high traffic) be able to speak to your favourite sports person, actor,brand…. With Stories this possibility has returned and brand should make use of this. They could have Q and A sessions in which the listeners send questions via Message Direct and those will be answered in the story. Also brands can send customized video messages to followers.

 

5. Live, timely content

One of the hottest topics on social media right now is Live Video Content and Stories could be a great option to give this to its audience, being able to have an engaging audience and a live content is a great opportunity.

Facebook Live feed for example has been used for make up tutorials, fitness sessions or even exhibition openings so why not use Stories in similar ways to attract and bind customers.

 

Conclusion

Stories could make a big impact for Instagram and shift the platform a great deal forward. Snapchat has shown the great need and interest in live feed and everyday stories and if Instagram manages to position Stories it can have a huge impact.
