Laare Vane: A Manx tradition for Christmastime
The Laare Vane ('White Mare' in Manx Gaelic), in Ramsey, Isle of Man, December 2019.
The Laare Vane is a wonderfully anarchic part the traditional Manx Christmas. It would interrupt the celebratory feast on Twelfth Night (6th December), snapping its jaws at the guests until it was chased from the room.
In 2019 it made a reappearance at traditional Manx events around Christmas 2019, but it is not known who was behind it.
