The 'Horse Leap' & 'Wallberry' bridges

Marine Drive showing the two bridges, 'Horse Leap' and 'Wallberry'. After WW2, the Army offered to renew the two bridges and were refused permission. The Highwayboard decided to cut a road inland instead, Thomas Forrester took the trouble to write to them and let them know that if they blasted it, the way the rock was meant it would fall away. They ignored his advice and blasted the road, it fell in to the sea, the revetments that carried the bridges are still there as good as new.
