Heavy horses at Loughan Farm
Thomas Forrester bred heavy horses, he took a lease of Knock a Loughan Farm on the Oatlands Road, Santon, and kept Shire horses there, the Clydesdales would be kept at Ballashamrock. Shires were sold to the Mersey Docks and Harbour Boards, the Clydesdales mainly to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. This is a photo of one of the Forrester horses dressed up for a ploughing match in Crosby in the 1920's, possibly where the Henry Bloom Noble Playing Fields now are.
