Hango Hill, Isle of Man

A place of great meaning to Manx people, Hango Hill.

Located between Castletown and Derbyhaven, Manx people congregate here every 2 January to remember Illiam Dhone, the Manx person who played such an important role in the English Civil War on the Island, in the light of which he was executed here on 2 January 1663.

More about Illiam Dhone (William Christian) can be found here: www.manxhistory.com/app/#manx_people/8

The beautiful ballad in Manx Gaelic for this Manx martyr sung by Mona Douglas is available here: youtu.be/WcuPyDVMwbU
