Australasian Crested Grebes

The Australasian Crested Grebe was voted New Zealand's "Bird of the Century" (whatever that means), with the help of television host John Oliver, who drummed up support for the species. Grebes spend most of their time on water, but they are not related to ducks. Some species have elaborate courtship rituals, which are often shown on nature programs.
