Sacred Kingfisher

The Sacred Kingfisher is New Zealand's only regularly occurring kingfisher species. Identifying birds in New Zealand is not difficult, because there is often only one species there in numerous families. Sacred Kingfishers are fairly common on both the North and South Islands. They have a loud piping call.
