Moa Statue

The Bealey Hotel near Arthur's Pass in the Southern Alps had a statue of a moa outside. The statue was in honour of Paddy Freaney, the former manager of the hotel who in 1993 created a sensation by claiming to have seen a live one. Moas have been extinct for about 500 years.

Done
