White-fronted Terns

White-fronted Terns are natty white birds with a black cap. The "front" of the bird is the area above the bill. I saw a lot of them on the ferry rides to Tiritiri Matangi, off the coast of the North Island. The birds pictured here were in a colony on the Pancake Rocks in the Paparoa National Park.
