Mallard with Ducklings

Mallards are an abundant introduced species in New Zealand. At the Christchurch Botanical Gardens, I saw numerous Mallards with ducklings. These birds don't flee from visitors to the gardens. One female Mallard had two ducklings, and one walked between my feet while I was trying to take photos. Mallards have interbred with Pacific Black Ducks on New Zealand to such an extent that it is doubtful that there are any Pacific Black Ducks who do not have at least some Mallard genes.
