Spotted Shags

In a number of areas, I saw Spotted Shags, including colonies where they nest. Their name comes from the little spots on their wings. In shag (cormorant) colonies, a large amount of guano (droppings) accumulated. In South America, the nitrogen-rich guano was harvested for fertilizer, to the detriment of the cormorants.
