Black Stilt
The Black Stilt is the rarest shorebird in the world. Only 50 to 100 pairs are left in the world, all in the Mackenzie Valley of New Zealand. Black Stilts have declined because of predation and habitat loss. I saw a couple of them foraging in a pond.
