Replica of Michelangelo's David
An authorized replica of Michelangelo's David appears in the Piazza della Signoria in front of the Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace) in Florence. The Signoria was the government of medieval Florence. Because of exposure to the elements and the number of people in the piazza, the original statue was moved inside to the Galleria dell'Accademia in 1873. This replica has a pigeon on it, and pigeons are a reason that David's hair looks unnaturally white.
