Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde died in Paris in 1900 and is buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery. He was originally buried in another cemetery in Paris and moved to Père Lachaise in 1909. The tomb was designed by the sculptor Jacob Epstein. It originally had genitalia, which were subsequently removed by vandals. The tomb has long had problems with lipstick marks. The marks were removed in 2011, but they are now back, despite the plexiglass screen around the tomb.
