Skull and Crossbones
The skull and crossbones originated in the Middle Ages as a symbol of death. The Camposanto Monumentale is a cemetery next to Pisa Cathedral in the Piazza dei Miracoli. "Camposanto" means "holy field". You can walk along an arcade that has tombs from the Middle Ages, some of which feature the skull and crossbones.
