Eurasian Moorhen

This Eurasian Moorhen was photographed at the zoo in the Jardin des Plantes, but it was probably wild. Moorhens are in the rail family and are now thought to be a separate species from the Common Gallinules in the New World, from whom they are virtually indistinguishable.
