Montezuma Oropendola
Thi lovely plumage and humorous behavior of this 9-syllable species made the Montezuma Oropendola one of my favorite birds around Rancho Naturalista. They nest in colonies, and when the males are displaying, they fall forward while making a sound like a creaky hinge. The wings make a whooshing sound when a bird flies by. Oropendola means "gold feather" because of the gold feathers in its tail.
