Volcano Hummingbird

The Vocano Hummingbird is a tiny high elevation species. This female was perched on a branch outside Quetzal's Paradise. There are three races of the species in Costa Rica, and the males can be told apart by the color of their gorget, or throat feathers. The female does not have a colorful gorget. Hummingbirds have feet which allow them to perch, but they are incapable of walking.
