Antarctic Prion
Prions are very difficult to identify. They are small seabirds, about ten inches long, and their flight is rapid and twisting. To identify them, one needs to look closely at the face pattern, bill shape, and tail. As we travelled farther south, most of the ones we saw were Antarctic Prions, such as this one. Many prions and some other seabirds have a black M pattern on their dark gray back.
