Brown Jay

Brown Jays are one of the most common species around Rancho Naturalista. They are much larger than Blue Jays. Their raucous call sounds like a screaming hawk. Some jays mimic hawks in order to arouse songbirds to come out of their nests and reveal where their nest is. Brown Jays seem to sound like a hawk most of the time.
