Spotted Antbird

Antbirds are named because they follow swarms of army ants hoping to catch the insects and other prey trying to get out of the way. They do not eat ants. Spotted Antbirds were common and often perched on a low branch that allowed close views, such as this one on the Pipeline Road. They are rufous on the back with a very broad band of black spots on the breast.
